today I let my house be messy

today i let my house be messy
left my clothes all over the floor
dishes on the coffee table and in the sink
crumbs on the stove and on the couch
today i didn't have the effort
so i didn't give the effort
i let my house be messy
because today felt messy
and there were moments that hurt
i let myself rest because I felt messy
and things felt sad
there were things i wanted to do to feel better
but my house was messy
so i let my house be messy without guilt
and i did those things
today "those things" were gardening & yoga
some days it's laying in bed doing nothing
both are good reasons to let the house be messy
everything doesn't always have to be perfectly tended to. things are allowed to be messy.
I am allowed to be messy. YOU are allowed to be messy.
this is your permission. your hall pass.
allowing something sometimes doesn't define your character. letting things be messy doesn't make you a mess.
there's a time and a place for everything. sometimes we have to stop tending to everything to rest.
that's okay.
let the mess be the mess for some moments, without resistance, and you will have energy to change it sooner than exhausting yourself with guilt and worry
today i let the house be messy and I took care of me so tomorrow i feel better taking care of the mess.
